First Hand Copyright/YouTube Issue
Several years ago, I worked on a film titled "Tibet: Cry of the Snow Lion," a documentary that chronicles Tibet's recent past. It was released as a full-length 35mm film, and on DVD and VHS. Just on a whim, I decided to search on YouTube for "Cry of the Snow Lion" and there it was, in 15 or so segments, there for everyone to see, and also in its entirety in one full on block of video. I've contacted the filmmakers and am interested as to what may come of this, because I'm assuming this wasn't endorsed!

Are you pissed that your film was put on youtube.com with out you knowing or consenting?

Here's an update, not so exciting, but...
For the same reasons Chris mentioned, they decided not to take action. Sure it's there without the okay from the filmmakers, and it DOES infringe on copyrights. But it DOES give exposure to the film, gets the word out that they were trying to convey with the film, and absolutely does not give the full experience given when seeing the film on DVD or film.
I myself, like Chris, have "previewed" music or films on-line, but being unsatisfied even with the quality of music on iTunes, I'll eventually go out and buy the CD, DVD, LP, or whatever. So if I had come across this video, and it spoke to me, I'd likely go out and buy it.
I'm not pissed that it's on there, I did relatively little work when compared to the whole (it was in the making for 10 years; I only worked for about 2 months on it), as it was an internship. I was "production assistant" I believe- meaning I did all the little annoying jobs nobody else wanted to do :)
