Whoops..were we supposed to post comments here or on our personal blog? Anyhoo, I look forward to this class and discussions on Digital Media, and our projects. This is just about the only class I'm taking this semester that I really look forward to. It's a shame we only meet on Monday :(
Hi, is this the place where we are suppose to post? Anyways, I think all 4 articles are very interesting. They made me wonder did necessity lead to the development of higher technology or did technology create these necessity for higher and better technology? 10 years ago almost no one knew how to use a cellphone, but now people need their phone to show time, go online, calculate things, have maps, etc. Anyways, it's interesting to learn more about this area. I look forward to this class.
Hi there...am I late??? I thought this is a place for comments somehow everybody already post their questions and responses here... I like Gunibal's question, which is "What's the difference between these blog pages and an email group?" I think an email group and this bolg are really have something in common, but I guess an eamil group is limited to the group members but a bolg could be read to anybody on line.
I really dug the $100 laptop article. And although all the companies involved are well intentioned, do you (fellow students) really think their vision of 5 million laptops distributed to children living in under privileged areas of the world realistic?
I thought the "Infinite Arcade" article was pretty interesting. As an active gamer I have been involved with the constantly changing world of games and gaming technology for a long time. It makes sense that the gaming companies will need to change the way they distribute and develop games to adapt to the needs of their customers.
Once thing I thought particularly interesting was that the article seemed to be aimed specifically at console gaming and had nothing to say about computer gaming. They made it sound like gaming in general was on a downhill, when they really only discussed consoles. I think that computer gaming industry is probably part of the reason why consoles are losing ground, because of the easily upgradeable and adaptability of computers and the internet. The MMOG(massively multiplayer online game) genre, for example, is becoming more and more popular every year... making millions of dollars not only from the sale of the game itself, but the monthly charges to play the game.
